2 year molars but no canines?

Help! I can't find any place online that answers this question - my DD is 18 months old, has front four teeth on top and bottom and two months ago her 2 year molars came in - but where are her canines? Is this something I should see a dentist about or leave it alone and trust they'll come in?
TIA!

they are not his 2 yr molars they are her 1st baby molars

general eruption patter is ( and it varies GREATLY btw)

insisors ususally bottoms then tops ( 8) total
then 1st molars (4)
then canines ( 4)
THEN 2nd set of baby molars commonly called 2yr molars (4)

No you do not need to take your child to the dentist. They will erupt in due time.

My oldest 2 sons were 3 till they got their 2nd baby molars

My daughter is 17 months and has only 4 teeth...the top 2 and bottom middle ones. I felt her gums the other day and she's got molars coming in! Before all of her front ones even. Someone reassured me that they don't always come in the "normal" order.

I wouldn't go to the dentist just for this but I think most ped dentists like to start establishing routine care once the first four teeth have erupted, just to monitor for dental carries. I also have a couple of friends who never got canines at all, either baby or permanent. One of them asked their dentist about it and they said it is fairly common and nothing to worry about.
PS... LOVE you avatar.

Yup. Here's a great teething guide:

If you click on the link for "See a picture that shows when the primary teeth come in," it shows exactly when (usually) teeth come in.

It is weird that the molars come in before the canines, isn't it? It must be something from our genetic past, like maybe at this age babies need molars to chew tougher plants, and then they get the canines when they're ready to start hunting and eating animals. I dunno.

I have an evolutionary theory about the canines coming after the molars which I just made up 20 seconds ago.

See, waaaaaayyy back before most babies got molars then canines, some got the canines first and it was really easy and they didn't fuss and the baby didn't drive the parents crazy. But then later, other normal child stuff freaked the parents out and they left the kid for the wolves.

Thus wasting a lot of nurturing time and resources that could've gone to more reproduction.

And some babies got the molars first and the parents couldn't handle the screaming and the baby went to the wolves ASAP. They could reproduce sooner, but they weren't successful until they got over getting freaked out by teething.

Finally, there's the set of parents who dealt with the freaking out over teething a-okay and they kept the baby and the subsequent babies and their babies had babies and got through teething in one piece.

So basically, my theory is that the molars come first so we get lots of practice with irritable babies. :

My son at 17 months is still missing his bottom lateral incisors. He's got all his top incisors plus all his molars are coming in. No canines yet.

My first ds got his 2 bottom front teeth and then he got his canines! We called him BATBOY because he looked like a little vampire without his front teeth! He got his front teeth a week or two later, but it was really funny for a bit.

thanks for your answers. My DH was getting worried that something got missed in the genetics for incisors or something terrible like that...
