Trying to test GBS -

So with my first two, I was GBS+. I'm with a different care provider this time and she's recommending taking Lysine, Garlic, Echinacea, and Fish oil to boost my immune system in hopes of testing neg. I'm 12 weeks now so this would be for a loooong time.

Anyone done this or heard of it being done successfully? I know the fish oil would probably be good for me either way. But its seems easier and more of a sure bet to the hibiclens douche??

I took a really good probiotic during my last pregnancy and managed to come back GBS -. Don't know how much it was the probiotic and how much was just luck but it couldn't hurt to try.

Coconut oil suppositories (can just be homemade) are supposed to be pretty beneficial, too!

I was positive with my first and did probiotics this time and tested negative

I also take fish oil, though I haven't heard that being connected to GBS status.

Thanks for the replies!

So are probiotics the same as taking acidophlius-the stuff in the bottle that's sour like yogurt? This is all pretty new to me.

Probiotics do contain acidophilus but generally contain others as well. You can get it in pill form or in a powder that you mix into drinks. Personally I don't like the powder (used with my kids) it never seems to dissolve all the way. If you go to your local health food store and just tell them you'd like a good probiotic they should be able to point you in the right direction. Good luck!
