Eliminating on cue

Thread Starter
Does anyone else have a child who has never eliminated on cue, or within a minute of sitting (mine takes FOREVER - literally sometimes 20 minutes)?

I'm just curious. And frustrated. LOL

i feel like this sometimes too. mine has gone on cue, but regularly he won't do anything for a while when I KNOW he needs to. I'll go back to nursing him or whatever and then he will go all over himself and me. it's like he is waiting. i would like to hear some other responses about this too.

I've always thought about it in these terms: You first include a cue WHEN they are eliminating. So it's more about YOU cueing when they eliminate, rather than THEM eliminating when you cue. Further, my cues were both audible, and visual (the potty sign), so my goal is more about creating a mental connection with the ways to communicate about elimination (and thus transition to them giving YOU a signal to tell you they need to go) than trying to develop a Pavlovian potty reflex. The emphasis is on communicating, not training.
