Birth announcements?

I love the formalness of birth announcements. Is anyone planning on sending them too?

I plan to do my own newborn photo shoot within a week of this babe's birth. I just will need either upload to a announcement site or make my own...decisions decisions.

I'm making my own--pretty simple on blue card-stock, in our son's theme. I've already mocked it up (with my guess date which is, ironically, today). I'll include a couple pictures with each, probably one of just the baby and one with his brother. I keep meaning to make my list of where I'm sending them with addresses so I can start on envelopes. I'll probably end up sending out a mass email version too since there are a bunch of family members who haven't given me up-to-date addresses.

I just ordered ours from walmart. We always just do the photo greeting card style. I think they are nice and cheap

I *love* getting them in the mail, but don't send them.

I went through Walmart too; if you don't like sending business their way, snapfish is good; you can also do local pickup if you don't want to deal with shipping (the local Walgreen's fulfilled our order for xmas cards).

I took some snaps and uploaded them to CVS.com. I'm picking it up in an hour. We didn't do this for DD and I always wished we had (sorta made up for it by sending just a photo of her as our holiday card that year).

I love doing baby announcements. I love tinyprints.com but they are kind of pricy. I'll probably see what designs are available through Walgreens and do that... they include envelopes and you can pick up at the store, which is pretty nice! I will probably wait a few weeks so we can get some pics that aren't too newborn/splotchy.
