dads in the waterbirth pool?

If you've had a waterbirth, would you tell me what your dh wore in the pool if he was with you?

For some reason my brain isn't wrapping around that part, but I really want my dh with me- he's my best support!

Oh- we'll have our midwife who's a really good friend of ours, our kids and someone there to take pics for us.

all of my clients' partners have worn swim trunks. A female partner wore a bathing suit. You and your partner should wear what you want! or nothing!

the births I have been at where the dad got into the water he wore either swim trunks or athletic shorts (the mesh ones that dry quick).

DH wore swim trunks. We had certified midwife, friend-to-watch-older child, said-older-child, and non-certified midwife as a friend/support/doula for me and DH. That was a good number of people IMO.

I haven't had my waterbirth yet, but my midwife's supply list includes swim trunks for my DH if he wants to be in the pool (he does, and I want him there, and I think he'll probably be more comfortable in swim trunks -- though heck, since I won't be wearing much, and the baby definitely won't, maybe we should all go for our birthday suits.)

My DH jumped in fully clothed to catch our DD. I wanted to labour alone in the tub, but did want him to catch, so when the time came he just hopped in. Shorts, collared shirt and all. If I had wanted him to support me during labour within the pool, he would have slipped on his swimming trunks.

Same here. DH was in and out of the pool with me every time and wore just his swin trunks. He will probably do the same this time too.

Dh wore an old shirt and his swim shorts....he wasn't IN the pool with me but he was sitting on the side with his legs in the water.

My DH was in the tub in his swim trunks.
The video from after the birth is priceless.

DH jumped in with what he had on haha. We never really discussed him getting in or not before, but when the midwife asked if he wanted to catch, he jumped right in totally shocked he could be "allowed" to do it, and didn't even take time to take his shirt off! ha.
