Suggest an "awesomely bad" movie for us!

DH and I love to watch stupid movies and make fun of them. We were just lamenting the fact that we haven't done this in a long time.

Usually we happen upon them by accident, thinking they'll be good.

They have to be bad enough to make fun of, but not so bad that it makes you want to turn it off.

Any suggestions? I think maybe like a cheesy romantic drama or a sci-fi with really bad special effects or something. No horror flicks, please.

Thanks!

Clan of the Cave Bear... awesome book, but a cheesy movie with Daryl Hannah.

Dh really liked Man Bites Dog but it isn't really "stupid" it is pretty funny though and in French.

Dh and I found ourselves watching Boy and His Dog the other day. It wasn't good. It was bad.

Strictly Ballroom is one of my faves... kinda the professional ballroom dancing.

Drop Dead Gorgeous: Kirsten Dunst and poking fun at beauty pagents.

And this one is possibly so bad you will love me or hate me for it:

Earth Girls are Easy. Geena Davis, Jeff Goldblum and others, mixed with lingerie, furry aliens, neon colors, and all kinds of just fabulous awfulness!!!

ETA: I second Plan 9 from Outer Space... I've heard SO many awful/wonderful things about it.

You NEED to find a copy of "Big Meat Eater"!!! It's a 1982 Canadian Sci-Fi cult classic and it really doesn't get more cheesy than this. I am a huge fan of 'bad' movies and this is by far my favorite.

I stumbled across it when I was in high school working a video store and they were cleanign out inventory. It finally came out on DVD. It is available on netflix or you could try locally, but I cannot stress enough that you need to see this movie!

It is sooo bad it's good. A little synopsis I tanked from imbd, "A butcher discovers that the rotten meat he has been dumping into a septic tank below his shop has turned radioactive. A maniac named Abdullah has killed the mayor, then brought him back to life as his slave to kill everyone in the town. Interplanetary aliens appear and help the butcher fight off the radioactive meat and Abdullah."

You might have to wait until March when it is released on DVD, but the movie 2012 definitely fits the bill. Sci fi, awesomely bad special effects, but still good enough to keep watching and keep making fun of.

I love bad movies!

Have you ever heard of Mystery Science Theater 3000? It was a TV show that ran for years and years, but is now only available on DVD. Basic premise was a guy and his robots are stuck in space and forced to watch bad movies by some crazy mad scientist/world domination characters. They play the movies and provide trenchant as-you-watch commentary, some of which is brilliant, some of it funny, some of it just obvious. Very clever, and just goofy enough, kind of droll. It is the only way I can really tolerate bad movies.

We had to buy our fave DVDs; the library didn't carry them. Some do, though.

Earth Girls Are Easy is one of the funnest movies ever made. Angelyne shows up and everything! It's a silly movie, but I don't think it's a bad one.

On the other hand, Showgirls is bad. Bad bad bad bad. In such a lurid and ridiculous way that it's very fun to mock. Also, Color of Night.

If you want an older bad movie, Sting of Death features a jellyfish monster portrayed by a guy with a fringy garbage bag on his head.

I've added both of these to my Netflix queue! I LOVE bad movies!

The Legend of Boggy Creek is fun. Komodo and Eight-Legged Freaks are fun, too!

Oh, and Anaconda and Anaconda II, Hunt for the Blood Orchid.

Would Frankenfish and Mosquito Man be horror or sci-fi?

Have fun!

Jesus Christ Vampire Slayer

The Hebrew Hammer

Top Secret

Ooh, and what was that "horror" movie about the killer sheep? Half of the special effects were sheep with jam on their faces...
