my six week old baby is ebf and nurses like a little trooper pretty much all day. I do one side at a time and he nurses for a long time each session. Ocassionally if the nursing is going on and on and on I'll offer the other side.

For a little under week he has had really green poops-they don't smell the way hindmilk embalance poops tend smell. they are runny and mucosy. He is not going more frequently-like you would expect if it was an stomach illness. He will have 3 or 4 poops in a row like this than a huge poop that is text book breastmilk poop in terms of color and texture.

What could be going on? The color is so green and the texture so odd.

that is the reaction my sons have had to dairy in my diet. I have to cut it out completely, along with eggs. Some babies are also sensitive to soy; it's called milk protein intolerance, or soy protein intolerane (egg is more rare); baby is getting some of the proteins in your milk and it irritates the gut. Might grow out of it as early as 6 mo. of age, my DS1 outgrew it at a year for milk and 18mo. for egg. You can try cuttig out dairy & soy for a few weeks to see if there is any improvement; dairy can take a whole month to clear both your system and his. good luck!

You might find this article helpful. It's one of my faves about baby poop.

But honestly, if babe is feeding well, gaining weight, wetting and pooping plenty of dipes, and seems generally content, I wouldn't worry about the color of his poop or changing anything in your diet.
