Gluten and dairy intolerant

I have known for awhile that I am gluten and dairy intolerant. I was able to stay away from these foods for a year and a half successfully...Then I moved from Seattle to a part of Ky that doesn't offer a wide range of choices when it comes to this type of diet. Any ideas on a simple diet that doesn't require a lot of different flours. I am not a big meat eater but my options are limited. I know that if I can get back on track I can have a happier healthier pregnancy and postpartum. Any ideas?

I've been on a gf diet for a year, but I'm not dairy intolerant. I really love Pamela's mixes, but they do contain buttermilk. Are you allergic to dairy proteins or have a lactose intolerance? Amazon.com offers a lot of different gf mixes much cheaper than you can buy them in the stores, especially if you do a "subscription" option. I can't tell you which are dairy free, but I really like Bob's Red Mill Hearty Bread mix and the Gluten Free Pantry pancake and waffle mix. If you can do GF oats, then oatmeal makes a great breakfast that you can add so many things to. Do you like to eat any meat or just not red meat? Chicken is pretty versatile, and so are eggs. You can also make soups with lots of veggies and rice or pasta.
HTH!

I am dairy free, but not gluten free. I did spend some time gluten free though. I used a lot of things like corn tortillas and rice pasta. I know Bob's Red Mill has mixes available. I am in Missouri and I can even find them here. But, they are kinda pricey. I have picked up the Namaste mixes before. They are gluten and dairy free. We do LOT of soups. Like cabbage soup, lentil soup. Beans are an endless thing. We eat TONS of beans. Bean soups, spreads. We dont do very much meat at all. I have been making one tofu a dish week. Fried tofu (late time I used a corn meal coating), scrambled tofu. We do baked potatoes with broccoli and nutritional yeast. Hodgens Mill offers a buckwheat pancake mix, I dont know if it is completely gf, but I think buckwheat flour is pretty easy to come by. I have seen rice tortillas before, but I dont really like them. You could make quesadillas with corn tortillas and nutritional yeast spread.

Do you have access to a health food store at all? I know if I went to my local one, they would really help out in finding me choices. And, lots of grocery stores have started offering expanded "natural" sections.

Thanks for the ideas. Soups sound really good right now. Unfortunately, the nearest health food anything is 1.5 hrs away. We go to Nashville once a month..we try to at least. I am intolerant to the milk proteins..and milk always gives my babies really bad colic..so might as well get off now.

Our family is gluten, dairy, free because of one dd and then my other dd has a host of other sensitivities as well...Soups are good, Mexican food, beans, rice, corn tortillas, potatoes, sweet potatoes, ect...
we live in a rural area with one tiny, not so allergy friendly HFS, so I have to order most of my stuff in or wait til we get to a major shopping area (2 1/2 hrs away). I buy my grains in bulk and grind my own.
Being gluten free is getting easier--even in the three yrs we've been living this way, I've seen changes. Walmart labels their own line and most grocery stores carry some gluten free items. Fruits and veggies are gluten free! It's not always easy, but it is doable, even pregnant and making everything from scratch.
