I watch up my Bfs 3grade daughter after school and help her with homework.
I have noticed that she struggles with learning and often guesses or pretends that she understands what she is doing, when in fact she does not.

She still writes letters backwards, but not always, she can write 2 "b"s side by side and have one right and one wrong. She also switches back and forth between capital and lowercase. I would say her reading skills are average but her comprehension is VERY bad. She may answer 1 multiple choice right of 10 on a short story. She has no patience when learning new things and gives up quickly. She has no behavior or social issues.

She switched to a new school this year and her grades have dropped dramatically since last year. Her parents are blaming the grade drop on the new school and teachers, but I think that 3grade may be harder for to keep pretending.
I get the feeling that something more is going on, but my daughter is extremely gifted so I am not a good judge of what is normal or not.

So I bring this you. Do the things I mentioned sound like warning signs of a learning disability? Or am I over reacting?
Would it be in bad taste for me to mention my concerns to her parents? I love this little girl as if she was my own, and it breaks my heart worrying that not enough is being done to help her.
Thanks for your thoughts
