Need references for teaching values at home

Thread Starter
As part of my grad school essay, I have to support my viewpoint that values should be taught by families at home and should not be the job of the government. That part is easy, however, I have to back up my argument with peer-reviewed journals or published books. I have found nothing! I have done a google search and also searched my schools online library!

If anyone has research or can point me in the right direction, that would be great. I would think that maybe even a textbook for sociology or something would have information like this....

Thanks!

I would look for articles citing the Wisconsin vs. Yoder decision, since that was a key point in that decision. Here's one, from a law journal:

Constitutionality of Home Education: The Role of the Parent, the State and the Child.
By Stocklin-Enright, B
Journal: Willamette law review
ISSN:0191-9822
Date:1982
Volume:18

cehck out the book

The Moral Intelligence of Childen

by Robert Coles.

it is older -- 1997. But he is a school psychologist that write about the ? of children learning to be moral -- and questions if that can ever be accomplished with out the parents doing it. Espcailly teh 2nd part of teh book (starting around page 65).

Might not be useable to you, as it is older, but it is a voice from the schools speaking to the need for parents to be teaching morals / values.
