Breastmilk does contain lactose, but in much smaller amounts when the mother abstains from dairy.. some babies are so intolerent though that they can't even breastfeed and need to placed on lactose-free or soy formula.

I have horrible problems also when I accidently ingest cow's milk- it's definetely a lot worse now than when I first went vegan

Yeah I've wondered the same. I have also heard that we lose the enzymes to fully properly digest breastmilk as we age. Not sure if that's true or not. I suppose I could try drinking a cup of my milk to see how my body reacts but honestly the idea is just not appealing. Maybe I can make DH drink a cup of it & be my guinea pig lol!!!
