Okay we have a 12 lb Somali male..he is huge, long, stocky. I bought the longest box I could and he still winds up peeing outside will standing inside. I mean to say..his big butt hangs out about half the time and there it goes ..he doesn't mean to go on the floor he misses lol

Help?

How about a large, shallow plastic storage container, like those underbed storage bins?

My 16 pound cat uses a litter box with a lid. She gets in, turns around and puts her head out and then goes. It seems to work for her. The opening is in front is at an angle. We have another covered one she will not use because she cannot sit comfortably. I think the angled opening makes the difference.

Someone told me about a litter box that is extra big and extra deep. I remember looking for it and finding it online. Of course I never got it because I found the one we have and cannot remember the name. Look around online.

Another thought is a rubbermaid tub and cutting one edge low so he can get in/out.

I have some friends who just used large rubbermaid tubs for litter boxes - so that might work well if you can't find something else. Corner, circular, or oval shaped boxes might possibly help too - depending on how the size compares to what you're using now.

I have used rubbermaids. They work well.

My cats don't really go for a covered box, so I bought a 55-quart (I think that was the size) clear plastic storage container for less than $4. The sides are about one foot tall, which is short enough for my cats to get in easily, but too high for them to hang their butts over while using it. Works great, plus it's cheaper and roomier than any litter box I could have bought at a pet store.

We adopted a kitten 2 mos ago and we are using 2 square Rubbermaid-type totes for her litter boxes. We keep 1 in our coat closet and the other upstairs. DH cut an opening in each towards the end (rather than in the middle). Our kitty loves it and has not had any litter box issues whatsoever.

Here is where we got the idea. Scroll about halfway down.

Hey! Perfect! I knew you all were the ones to ask! Thanks

There is a neat litterbox that looks like a rubbermaid with a lid that has a hole in it. The cat jumps on the lid, goes into the hole, and uses the box. The lid has deep grooves so the litter on their feet is brushed off. If your cat doesn't mind enclosed boxes it would be a good one to try.

We had a house rabbit that was a litter 'kicker' and would dump litter over the side of boxes. We bought a rubbermaid and cut a U shape out of one side. That way she could hop in, but most of the box was too high for her to kick litter out.
