unclaimed property/money

i just came across a link to this website www.unclaimed.org and was able to find $72 that a company owed me as a refund that somehow never made it to me and was being held by my state. I sent the link to a few co-workers and some of them found money too, so I think it's worth checking out!

I remember checking before and never found anything. I just checked again and found something from a car loan from ~10 years ago.

Wow, I've checked that off and on over the years, but just now I found my name on it too. Between 10 -100 dollars, but hey I'll take it.

I wonder how this works, according to my old states records this money was just reported this past summer in June. I haven't lived at that address for 10 years?? It took 9.5 years for this money to be turned over to the state? I am so curious as to what it might be from.

thanks

Banks, for example, will hold onto money from non-active accounts for many years before they turn over that information to the state.

I have two <$5 unclaimed money listings--one I know most about is about $3 from a bank who screwed up an account closure on me. I suspect the second is another bank account as well.

Both took almost ten years to be reported. Unfortunately, both unclaimed money listings are at an address that I haven't been able to track down adequate proof of my residence there.

Nothing for me but did find for friends

This is neat - Dh had 2 hits valued between 25-50 each. I'm going to make sure he follows up on this asap!

I checked a few months ago and didn't find anything for me, but did find $65 that was my mom's. She's passed away, so it's mine to claim, just have to get the paperwork notarized.

Thanks... I found someting for my grandma doing this once. This time there was a hit for my dad, although it didn't tell me how much it was for. I let him know.

I found a few hundred bucks for my mom using this a few years ago. It was a life insurance policy from when she was a baby and didn't know about.

I did this last october and got my check right at the end of the year. It was around $250.00 and totally made my new years ever (the day I got it).

This is an awesome site!! I was completely leary of it when I read the first post, but it sounds like people have been successful. I did find my dh's deceased grandfather's name/address. It's an undisclosed amount of money though...not sure whether to bring it up to dh's grandma or not??

funny this was bumped today. I finally got around to claiming my money, but nearly 10 years later I don't have any physical proof of my account to send in with my claim. The company has merged like 3 times over the years too Oh well, I totally deserve the money too because they were a pita when I had to deal with them way back when. Good to see that others have gotten their $$ without a problem.

Found $7.45 for my mom, lol!

Wow, $184 for my father. Too bad I don't speak to him.
