Breastmilk for adopted baby

Hi All:

I have been contacted by a friend who is trying to help friends who have adopted an infant... they are seeking human milk for the baby. I am certain that this is not an unusual question to post here--where should I direct them?

Human milk banks are EXPENSIVE... any other resources that are safe for these parents to investigate?

I will also get them info about inducing lactation, supplemental feeding systems, etc.

Thanks wise women!

www.milkshare.com is where they can meet donors. There area recommendations on what blood tests the donors should have. The only costs are providing the donor with milkbags--amazon.com is cheapest. Also, shipping if not local. That can get pricey.

Best info on inducing lactation is at www.asklenore.com. She should put the baby to breast NOW using a lactaid. They can be purchased at: http://www.lact-aid.com/

I nursed my adopted baby starting at 6 hours of age. She is almost 18 months. She had less than 2 ounces of formula before I could get to her and none since. I was nursing my bioson but as he was nearing 3 my supply was getting less. I had enough donors to supply what I could not make. I buy domperidone from Canada and use Motherlove's More Milk Special Blend.

You and/or your friend are free to contact me if I can provide more info.
