Building set with moving parts

My ds is about to turn 3 and he has really enjoyed building lately. Today he constructed a "machine" out of our TRIO blocks and it had a few parts that moved which he was so excited about. But those blocks aren't really designed for moving parts, so it kept coming apart and then he would throw a hysterical fit!

So, any recommendations for building sets that would be user friendly for a 3yo but that also let him have his moving parts?

My son just turned 3 and he got a Gears, Gears, Gears set for his birthday. He LOVES it and is always making "machines." We got the Super Set on Amazon for a really good price. If it continues to be a hit we'll get him a motor and one of the specialty kits to add to it next Christmas.

He also loves Tinker Toys but gets frustrated when they fall apart too.

Zoob? We have those - they move on a ball and socket joint.

Take Apart Airplane and Truck? DS2 is getting these from a friend for his 3rd birthday....maybe too juvenile for your 3 year old but I know mine will love them.

Build It Big?

We have gear gears gears too. We have the fair ground and under the sea sets. I think they have too many special bits to them personally and I would prefer a basic set. The children both enjoyed the ones we borrowed from our toy library (hence buying the others)

DS also got a gearello set http://www.constructionkits2enjoy.or...nfo_Q6138.html for Chirstmas. It's a lot more flexible than the others we have but that does mean more small pieces. For now it is definaltly a play with an adult toy (he's 3)

DS is also really into the marble run at the moment. We have a plastic one with a few sections where the marbles move through waterwheels and that sort of thing.
