If you work as a Doula and still b'feeding twins

How do you do it?

I'm thinking of going back to this work but can't see a way to make it work when I'll need to express. My twins are almost 16 months and we made it 4 hours without mumma milk today. First time ever that has happened and it was a push. I reckon I need to express minimum every 3 hours, preferably every 2.

I should give up on the idea, yeah!?

I don't know. I went back to work when the twins were 4 months old. I took MINIMAL births, mostly for friends or people I knew through friends so that I was sure they understood I'd need breaks to pump or feed babies. First birth back was awesome and they slept the whole time, second birth back I had a lactating friend keep them and they wet nursed, third birth and fourth birth ironically happened on the same day (AT THE SAME BIRTH CENTER, ironically!) and that one was tough. I was gone a long time, Ben refused to take a bottle from DH and just starved and Claire ended up going through my entire stash and got an ounce of formula to top off. Fifth birth back was late at night into early morning and I was back home by 10am.

Really, it's not been a big deal and it's always worked out. I pumped when I needed to and tried to not let down when the new baby cried Now, at 20 months, I take about one birth a month and it's a non-issue.

Thank you for asking this. My boys will be one next month and I'm hoping to take clients soon. I've been wondering the same thing.
