our new oven really stinks!

We just got a new oven and it smells horrible. I've had the doors and windows open for a couple of hours and have been running the kitchen fan and that helped, but it's so cold in here that I had to close things up.

Does anyone have suggestions for what else I can do to get rid of the smell and any of the chemicals offgasing from the oven? Would heating it up cook off some of the bad stuff? Can I just open the house, turn it on and go outside for a while to let the nastiness release? The guy who installed it tested it out and it seemed that heating it was what intensified the smell.

In the instructions for our new stove it said to turn it on to 400 & let it run for 30 minutes. Id read the instructions to see if they say the same & head outside for a while. The smell is normal & does end quickly.

Yeah that! The instructions with our last new stove stipulated that you should open the windows and leave the house while doing it.

Just make sure you've taken all those stickers and protective film off first.

Thanks for all of your replies. I couldn't find anything in the manual about heating it up and leaving the house, but I'm going to try it tomorrow.
