I would probably name her Eve and call her Evie when young. Another name you might consider is Evangeline.

I like Eve and Evie. You could also call her Eva. I have a friend with an Eva. It's a beautiful name.

I think Eva is a very classical and beautiful name... which can be nicknamed Eve and Evie.

Genevieve! What an awesome compromise.

I love Genevieve and use Eve as her main name...it's one dh and Ive considerd this time around but have a "Jennifer" relative that is not one we'd want to name our dd after. Though, I personally like Evelyn as well and have suggested that to dh but for some reason he says no and wants to name our dd Eloise....see it could be worse!!

I knew a Genevieve who was Evie - maybe you like it better than Evelyn?

I have an Eve We haven't met any others, though we have met Evelyns and Evas and Avas. I am an atheist, but I see the name Eve as being more mythical than biblical, and it also can mean evening. It's the dual nature I was really drawn to - sweet and pure or temptress, darkness or light, etc. I think an Eve can be anything. Evelyn just can't compete with that. Eve is timeless, Evelyn is pretty Victorian/Edwardian.

I loooooooove the name Evelyn - also Evette and Ivy. I had a boy though...Evan ! But I have always thought Evelyn is a beautiful name, elegant and simple.

I think if a name you are considering fits the energy for your baby, it will stick, even if you have a little issue with it...and it will end up seeming right. Our DS2's name was chosen by DH. I was not in love with the name, but DH was very settled on it, the way I had been settled on our first child's name, and it felt like what we should go with...and it ended up being perfect for him.

I think Eva is your best bet.

I really like Evangeline. Easily NN Eve or Evie.

My boys have very strong Hebrew names, and I'm not Jewish or Christian. I don't think of the names as Biblical. They existed before the Bible was written. I just think of them as having Hebrew origins, just like my mother's name (Donna) has Italian origins.

I'm not a big fan of Evelyn, either, but I really like Eve, Eva, and Genevieve. You could also put a Polynesian spin on it: Evalani.
