My 7 mo old has been experiencing solids for a few weeks now. We are still on cereal mostly, and I have had luck with sweet potato that I baked, pureed and froze myself. He does not yet like thicker textures, so I have to make it just thick enough so that it clings to his spoon.
I wanted to try green beans, and used frozen ones. I thawed them out and put them in a food processor, but could not get a smooth puree. After re-freezing them in ice cube trays, I thawed out one, added breastmilk and tried to re-puree it. It came out like minced relish and my son would not eat it, as he did not like the teensy chunks. He's just not ready for that texture.
As I'm typing this, it just dawned on me that perhaps I should have steamed the green beans first before pureeing and re-freezing. For some reason, I had it in my head that they were pre-cooked, so no need for me to heat them prior to pureeing them. Is that what I did wrong?
How can I get a smooth green bean puree?
