Day 10 -- No poop! What would you do?

About a month ago, my dd began spacing out her poops to about once a week (she's now about to be four months). I didn't worry about it, figuring that that was within normal range for ebf baby. However, it has now been 10 days since last poop, and still no sign of poop! I took her to the doctor today, since we are now coming up on the weekend, and though I am not worried per say, her dad is freaking out a bit. Doctor felt her tummy, listened to her intestines, did a little rectal exam, said everything seems fine, but suggested I give her a bit of apple juice and/or glycerine suppository to try to stimulate a movement. Does anybody have any feedback on this? She is exclusively breast fed, gaining weight fine, totally healthy, and tons of wet diapers every day. She doesn't sleep much, and is constantly in motion -- my gut is that she is really just burning up what she gets from feeds. Should I give her the apple juice? Suppository? Or just wait it out? Thanks!

i would wait it out ... youre just going to have a stinky diaper when she does poop

but i have known a few parents who gave their 5-ish month old babies (i know yours is 4) some carrot baby food ... it worked for them, but that is kinda young imo

I would just wait it out. My DS did the same thing at about 4 months. I was freaking out by day 8 and 9.... along came a poop on day 11. No long term issues came of it, he's a happy little pooper now at 8 months. If she doesn't seem to be in any obvious discomfort it's likely no big deal. I'd say lot's of wet diapers are a good sign too.
Hope she poops soon!

Just wait - the poop will come! And when it comes... well, you may want to start carrying a change of clothes for both you and baby!

I would not give a 4 month old EBF baby any food or liquid other than breastmilk.

At around 4 months my older DS started doing the same thing. It always freaked me out. Do you have an exersaucer, jumparoo, or something like that? I swear those things are poop inducers. Also, there is an infant massage technique that is good for encouraging poop. I know it has something to do with "I Love You", but that is all I know. Maybe a search online will help you find something. My friend learned it in a class and said after doing it the first time her daughter finally pooped.

My ds2, from like 4-6 months, only pooped about every 14-15 days. I freaked out the first time, but it was really a non-issue once I figured out it was just how he was.

He didn't start pooping on a regular basis (once a week or so) until he was regularly eating solids.

I would wait it out and carry plenty of wipes along with a change of clothes for your baby and you. It might be a big one!

We had a couple long stints between poops around that age too. Not 10 days, but I did a lot of research and 10-14 days is perfectly normal for some babies, especially EBF. I would wait it out a bit longer.
