Did I buy the right kind of coconut oil?

I purchased coconut oil from our local bulk food store. I is referred to as virgin oil, doesn't have a strong coconut scent, and is obviously food grade. Is this the best kind of coconut oil for moisturizing?

Food-grade CO is what you should be looking for if you can afford it! The premise is that we shouldn't apply anything to our bodies that we wouldn't eat, and we certainly know that it is not wise to eat any of the refined oils.

I have always used the same oils I use for cooking (eg virgin CO and cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil) for cosmetic purposes too.

Sounds like you got the right one!

I prefer coconut oil that smells and tastes like coconut. I've read it is less processed. The stuff that didn't taste like coconut gave me a headache when I ate it.

What you got sounds like the cheaper stuff that is best just to use on your skin. For those who want to eat it for health benefits you get virgin UNREFINED, it's totally different, pure white and smells and taste really coconutty. Either works cosmetically though
