J.D. Salinger RIP

Thread Starter
I came on to read the Salinger thread, but one hadn't been started, so here we go.
It's sad when anyone dies, but to die in your sleep at 92 is a pretty good way to go. As one of my facebook friends commented, it's hard to figure out how to mourn the man who wrote, "People coming and putting a bunch of flowers on your stomach on Sunday, and all that crap. Who wants flowers when you're dead? Nobody."
I hear that he left some works to be published posthumously. I'll be very excited to check that out.

Wow, I'm surprised there's no responses to this. I wasn't a huge fan by any means, but he definitely made his mark. He sounded like quite the eccentric fellow as well!

I'm currently reading The Catcher in the Rye for the first time in my life. I like it.
RIP JD Salinger.

Awww, how did I miss this? I was talking just last night about how much I loved Catcher in the Rye, and bullying a friend into letting me lend it to her.

I'm so sorry to hear this! I didn't realize he'd died. His "Perfect Day for Bananafish" and other stories were such a huge part of my coming-of-age. I am going to dig out my old copies of his books tonight!
