17 months old pulling pants down?

Ok Zoebird's post got me wondering about this--my DS is 15 months old and hasn't yet even attempted to pull at his pants to get them down. He just started signing "potty" before he goes a couple weeks ago. We started EC at 10 months old--probably around 11 months old once I would take his pants off he would squat and start backing up toward the potty. But how can I help encourage him to pull his own pants up and down? I guess I just didn't think it was possible at this age, too much time listening to the "milestones" that traditional potty trainers wait for I suppose.

So how did you get your LO's to learn this? Or did they just start to teach themselves eventually? I'm a first time mom , don't laugh at me!

on day, my son just did it. he started taking off his diaper. i don't know when it happened or how old he was, just that he would go into another room, and come back out without his diaper on. usually, he would then go into the bathrom and squat next to the toilet.

he started pulling them up about 3-4 days ago or so. really, once we got the trainers.

i didn't think he could or couldn't, and i never taught him. he just started doing it.

Same here. She's still not completely proficient at it but she'll do it on occasion. Disposables are MUCH easier for her than the snap on cloth diapers but she's figured out to pull them down sometimes.

When ds was 15 months he started pulling his pants down and signing to go potty. Great milestone, but when your in the checkout line at the grocery store, it is an emergency. Pulling them back up took a few more months to master.

Huh. I think letting her go naked 90% of the time may have slowed Lina down on this.

She'll pull *my* pants down randomly though.

hawk also pulls my pants down occasionally. LOL

yeah, the TSA line isn't the greatest place to pull them down either--i had the hardest time stopping him. he was so stressed and so confused, and the big man was yelling at us. so, poor baby was in a right state!

still, it was a funny situation. at least there was a tub there. he got most of it in the tub, but there was some splatter into two aisles. terrible-terrible. luckily the air port also has an efficient cleaning crew. i think it took them about 5 minutes to get the place back up and running.

DD is 20 mos and does not pull her pants down, but she will try to pull them back up. She is usually in jeans, not elastic waists. I'd rather her not pull her pants down anyway b/c I don't want her taking her undies off and peeing on the floor.

My kiddo (21 months) doesn't do this yet. I asked her the other day if she could pull down her panties and she did.
