Rate my stash?

I'm new to cloth diapering and expecting my first baby this spring. I'm sure there have been tons of these threads on here, but are there a few experienced cloth diaper-ers who would be willing to give me their input on this? I bought a few diapers used from a friend and I have another friend who is selling me a bunch of stuff for cheap. I also acquired a bunch of gDiapers... I think the flushables might occasionally be convenient when we are on the go, but if I like those I figure I'd mostly use them with prefolds instead. I've heard mixed reviews on those though, so we'll see. I am wanting to try out different kinds of dipes to see what we like.

Mostly what I'm wondering is: If I have everything on this list in my stash, will I be set for starting out? Is there anything totally useless that you would say not to get? (Some of these things I have not bought yet and some are on my baby registry.) I know it's a pretty random mix, due to buying used stuff at great prices from my friends. Thank you in advance!

I will say that Smalls did not fit my little guy until he was about 4-6 weeks old. I had started off with smalls and I wound up having to scramble to buy NB size dipes. And he was 8 lbs at birth. Some of the NB dipes still fit him in the waist and he's 4 mo (they're too short in the rise though).

And while the small dipes didn't fit, the small covers still don't fit. He had to start out in preemie covers, the NB covers are just now starting to fit him in the waist, and the Small covers are still too big in the waist (but he wears them to cover the rise of some dipes).

My point being that I'd probably get an extra dozen PFs, and at least 1 cover in a smaller size - or a pair of longies/shorties with a drawstring at the very least. You never know what you're gonna get in baby shape - I was expecting a roly-poly, and I got a bean pole.

looks good to me

DD fit into infant pfs & small bummis covers at about 7ish lbs. It looked huge but worked.

stash looks good for a small size however you'll likely find these will be extremely bulky or too big on an average NB. I'd very much suggest having 4-8 NB sized diaper covers an infant prefolds can be folded down to fit most sized newborns even small ones but a too big cover can't.

Ditto - i was going to suggest more nb/xs covers. tbh, even those where a little big on my 7 lb 11 oz nb... otherwise looks pretty good for now. u can always add as you go based on what you like!

don't forget wipes, wetbag, diaper pail/liner and diaper safe detergent & rash cream!

I also highly recommend getting newborn sized everything. They fit my little one til 3-4 months (and she was NOT so little by then ) but even if they had only fit for a week it would have been worth it for workable diapers which are comfortable for the baby too. Plus you can use them on future children or sell them for a good price if they are barely used. Even our newborn stuff was HUGE on my baby at birth so it was totally worth it.

Thanks so much for the input! I'm going to buy a few newborn covers. I didn't even think of that! It is so hard when you have no idea what your baby is going to be like.
