Do you do anything special when your child is sick?

Just curious if anyone has any rituals or traditions or whatnot that they do to help perk up their kids when they're sick?

Ds isn't sick often, maybe like 3 times ever, so I feel like when he's ill I need to be extra attentive and lovey and help him to feel better when he feels his worst.

I'll let him stay in cozy PJ's and watch movies in mommy's bed or eat his soup in bed like a picnic, and do extra hugs and cuddles...

Just wondering what if anything you other mommies do that's special when your little ones are sick...

We always buy the kids a bottle of Gatorade when they are home sick. We also usually rent a movie and set them on the couch with all their fluffy pillows. And of course lots of hugs and snuggles. My son is actually home from school sick right now.

We buy the Gatorade too! Something my mom used to do for me so now I do it for DS. Also, making a little bed on the couch so he can rest and still be where the rest of the family is. My mom used to do that for me too and some of my coziest memories are of being just a *little* bit sick and soaking up all the TLC.

DD sleeps with me in my bed when she's sick. It saves me having to get up in the night, and lets DH sleep well so he can help out the next day.....but DD thinks it's a huge treat.

TV rules relax when she's sick as well. She usually only gets about one hour screen time on weekdays, and none on weekends. When she's sick she can watch PBS kids and dvds as much as she wants. (doesn't tend to be much since she's not used to watching alot)

That's about it, she's still young enough (4 1/2)that she's getting tons of tlc anyway each day.

Lots of holding. (even my 12 yo still..)

Wait on her hand-and-foot.

Seriously, when dd's sick, I'm just extra attentive. She is, in fact, sick now; been running a temp off and on all day and has been sleeping on the living room sofa. I pause the DVD when I notice she's conked out again.

My mom always used to cut toast into strips, but dd only really likes toast with ketchup smiley faces on it and if you cut it up like that the ketchup drips all over everything and makes a gigantic mess.

My mom always made me Jell-O. When I was old enough to stay home sick by myself, I made it for myself.

Couch, movies (haul the TV out of basement storage - we're not TV-free but we just usually watch stuff on the computer in a different room), popsicles (if the illness lasts long enough to freeze, Pedialyte popsicles). Pats and snuggles and books as desired.

They get anything they want and as much holding as they want. They usually spend the day wrapped in a blanket reading on my lap.
