Kombucha can do WHAT??!!!

My sister just told me that drinking fermented teas can cause Vitamin B6 deficiency because it 'interferes with digestion and absorbtion'.



What the HECK?

I've never read that anywhere, and, frankly, I'd ask for a source if I were you.

She cited 'respectable medical site' online.

She just graduated with her BS in nursing.

There's plenty, plenty of research establishing that fermented foods actually AID digestion and absorption -- stimulating stomach acid and adding beneficial bacteria to the digestive process. In addition, Kombucha is actually a great source of all the B's.

I can't link you to the research about the digestive benefits without looking it up, but you could certainly google it, look it up on pubmed, or get some answers from folks on here. In the meantime, ask her for her source.

agh... she wouldn't believe it unless she found it herself.


I though that what you said was the actual case. I don't see HOW it could block absorbtion. Sigh....
