insight regarding prayer

My dad and I were talking on the phone today, and he said something that really touched me and I feel the need to share!

He told me he feels like he's spent a lot of his life praying ineffectively... recently, based on some of his studies, he's started praying that he will be given the ability to deal with whatever comes to him instead of praying for certain things to happen or not happen. And he said it seems to be really helping him! It struck such a chord with me that I need to share it!

Thanks for sharing that. It's so true!

That's so true! I am reading "10 Prayers God Always Says Yes To" and he talks about that.

(I think I got that title right)

Now I mostly pray to be an instrument of God, to give me the strength to handle His will, open my heart so I can be more loving and kind and accepting to my neighbors.. etc. stuff like that. I feel like it works so much better!

Interesting - I will have to meditate upon that...

I have found this to be so true. Once I say amen to whatever God's arrangement is in the moment, I feel peaceful.

This one stuck with me:

I once heard that prayer is like breathing. You breath out all of the negative things in your being and breath in all the positive things of God. God passes through you and you pass through God.

Our use of words matters...even in prayer...always.

I'll look for that book, 10 prayers...it sounds interesting to me. Thank you for mentioning it.
