Toddler going down slide? - Page 2

I started taking him to the park after he learned to walk, so around 13 months. We showed him how to go up the stairs and down the slide. He goes feet first on his belly. He loves the slide!

Probably about 12-13 months. We've been going to the park since he started walking at 9 months and it took him a bit longer to do the slide solo.

He was going down toddler slides head first at 10 mos. I tried to encourage feet first/sitting, but unless I was right there, he's throw himself down head first.

13 months for sliding his feet through to go sitting up, feet first.

About 12 months. She turned 1 in July, and we spent a lot of our summer at the park. Our favourite park has a little kid slide that is only about 2 feet tall and has three steps to get up it, so she practiced on that and became adept pretty quick.

She walked at 10 months.

DS perfected it around 14 months. I think the other parents at the park thought I was crazy, letting my 14 month old climb around by himself (with me spotting from below) on the "big kid" slides and stairs. He had incredible gross motor skills and always checked in with me before going down the slide (usually by shouting "I SLIDE! I SLIDE!" from the top).

That being said, when I got flack about it, I would reference recents reports that parents who go down the slide with their LO are much more likely to cause injuries like dislocations and breaks.

By the time he was a year... he's a climber so as soon as he figured it out, he was joining in the fun on the slides. Now his thing is to try going down head first.

I know that when he experienced his first slide after he started walking (I think it was at like 13 or 14 months), he could go down it with prompting. Without prompting he'd just walk up the stairs, down the stairs, up the stairs, down the stairs (he loves stairs ). He had the whole thing down pat by the end of that summer, so... 15 months?
