Tell me your favorite lunch box meals

Thread Starter
I need suggestions for a 4.5-y-o kid taking her lunch to preschool for the first time.

Foods that your kids can pretty much be guaranteed to eat?
Packaging/containers they can open themselves?

I need ideas!
Thanks.

I highly reccomend the laptop lunch system. We got one when our son started presechool and by the end of the year nearly 3/4 of the class was using them. Shop around you can usually find coupons or sales.

Their site has great lunch ideas too.

Typical lunches for my at that age were:

avacado rolls
dumplings
edamame

hummus
carrots
laughing cow cheese
apple slices
graham crackers

hardboiled eggs or deviled eggs
cut up strawberries w/ yogurt dip
wholewheat crackers
cheese stick

grilled cheese sandwich
banana
cookie (they could have sweets one day a week)

pinwheel (rollup) sandwiches-tuna salad, egg salad, chicken salad, roast chicken, roast beef etc with ranch dressing and cheese
chips
mixed fruit or berries

I'll be following this thread- DS also about 4.5 stayed for 'lunch bunch' one day last week and so we need to think about this as well. I had him help me pack his lunch thinking he'd be more inclined to eat if if he had some involvement. I am looking for a reusable container similar to the lunchable trays so I can something along those lines-cheese/crackers/treat... I know I could just send it in separate containers but the tray is half the fun
