Time to wean!

By Monday, my exclusively-except for an occasional bottle of formula when I don't leave enough breastmilk and solids-eating-breastfed 9 month old baby will be exclusively on formula . My supply is excellent, but I have no choice. I have to leave her for at least 6 months. She'll be with daddy and her older brother and sister, so I'm not worried in the least. I wanted to nurse for at least a year, but I was basically told last night that I'm going to be on a plane deploying the beginning of next week . At least I wanted to have time to wean gently, with love, not fast and dirty, if not let her self-wean.

Sorry to hear that. I hope that the adjustment period for her and you go somewhat smoothly.

Best of luck to you as you deploy.

Thanks. I get WIC and am signing my husband up for the Strong Mom's for the Similac samples and coupons, also. Since they tend to give more samples to breastfeeding moms, I put down that I'm about to have another baby (lie) to take advantage. Is that ebil or evil?

I'm so sorry that you and baby have to go through an abrupt weaning!

Have you thought about your health with a sudden wean? You'll definitely want to pump to comfort for a while to prevent mastitis.

I'm sorry it has to happen so suddenly! I did cold-turkey with DS1 because of a health issue and it was rough. I wish there was something you sould do differently, but all I can do is offer hugs.

sorry to hear they didn't give you much time to prepare! My first LO is only 8 months so I don't have any experience weaning yet, but I have deployed twice (for a year each time) so I know the hardships there! Best of luck!

I would talk to a health professional about this. I believe there are things that can be done to stop your milk and it would be a really good idea or you risk some nasty infections. I'm sorry you have to wean though.

Good luck on your deployment! Thank you for serving!
