We spent the other night during quiet time just laying in bed chit chatting (the kiddos and I) ...They started out talking about how they missed dad when he was gone and stuck on an oil rig. Then ds4 mentioned how at least he had a mom and a dad, and ds6 chimed in with Yup Jesus really blessed us. Then it turned into a can you imagine discussion. Went from can you imagine not having a mommy and daddy, to where I said yes baby some kids don't have them. For one I don't have them anymore (to which they know and ds6 always tells me how he hurts for me).. Then to can you imagine not having a house, what about a table to sit at, and again I kept telling them of how others live around the world. DS4 then was like what if you didn't have restaurants! so the oldest was like yup that would be weird but whats really bad is stores. So again I tried to explain to them how others lived. I told them stories of villages, countries, and towns that I knew of and the problems they faced.
Well by the end of the conversation ds6 was really feeling it all and they were just in amazement how blessed we are. Both of them talked amongst themselves about everything Jesus has blessed them with including water and showers because ds6 cannot imagine not brushing his teeth or showering. It was so amazing to see them grasping such a huge and powerful concept.
Then ds6 said you know what we should just go restaurant FREE. I said What?!? He said well why should we get to have that it's not needed? SO many live without it. Since we cant hunt for our food and go find water we will still have to go to a store. But we can stop going to restaurants. So we decided right then and there that we'd go for it. DS4 said we're going to STARVE (he's is mister eat all the time hahaha)...but ds6 explained how it was going to work. That whenever we wanted a certain restaurant momma would make that meal for him. So that helped him cool down. So the plan was made for the month and off to bed they went.
Last night ds6 told me he had been thinking about it, and well his heart was just telling him it just wasn't enough we need to go restaurant free for a YEAR. Oh my I told him I would really try, but what about when the baby is tired and momma cannot cook? He said well we'll worry about that later.
So it looks like ds6 has given us the biggest heart challenge of our lives and I am so AMAZED and blessed by his love and compassion I am in tears.
I love my kids! and So we're restaurant FREE. We did have to make provisions because momma is pregnant and I just KNEW that I was going to need at least one night out months from now
. So we settled on the week of Spring Break to be able to go out. Then not again till bean is born in May.
I have gone so far as to menu plan all the way to MARCH 21st!!!!!!!! Plus with the help of our awesome stockpile I am making thanks to the end of our FS we should be ok till about July on all the major things.
Our budget this year is so rocking (DH is finally working so we're getting things paid off) and my kids are a HUGE help. I am so amazed that they are ok with this!
