raw liver question

So, I'm feeling kinda stupid. I know of all the wonderful benefits of liver, and have tried cooking it a few times, but haven't really found a recipe that would enable me to eat it without gagging. The long-term goal, of course, is to figure out how to eat the stuff. For now, though, I'm pregnant with twins and think I could really benefit from liver, and have decided to try the frozen-liver-pill method.
I have a beautiful grass-fed beef liver that has been frozen for at least six weeks. I partially thawed it, cut off what seemed like pill-sized chunks, and re-froze those. I just now took some, and can't figure out what I've done wrong! I just didn't think this was something I could do WRONG, you know?
The chunks were really hard to swallow! I'm usually a pretty good pill-taker, and didn't expect to have any problems with this. Each piece seems to have lots of pointy corners, and no matter how small I cut them, I can feel them all the way down.
Is there something I'm missing here? Is there some way to roll the liver bits around before re-freezing to make oval chunks? Should I trim off the pointy bits? Should I grate the liver, mix with butter, and form that into pill shapes?
Any advice on amount to take daily or weekly? TIA for any thoughts or suggestions, and thanks for not laughing at my goofy question!

Two suggestions: make them smaller, or thaw them out on a plate before swallowing.

I know it seems like thawing them out might make you taste them more, but actually it's about the same. You still don't taste them much, and they're soft instead of hard. And they just take a few minutes to get softer.

My five-year-old swallows the pills without complaint when I make them small enough. You just have to take more if you make them smaller.

ETA: just read that you tried making them smaller -- OK, just try thawing them. Rah, rah, you can do it!!

What if you put them inside the capsule that you can buy before swallowing? They are available at the hfs or through frontier. I've been wanting to try this, but first have to get my hands on some pasture raised liver. Keep us posted, as I'm sure you are not this first mama to have trouble!

Well, letting them thaw a bit made all the difference! Thanks for the suggestions.
I've taken some twice now, and both times I swear I've felt... buzzed. So strange! I feel like I've just had a really good strong cup of coffee or something. I'm going to keep taking it, as I really want a good source of iron for the babies (and I refuse to take iron in vitamins, even food-based prenatals give me constipation!). It'll be interesting to see if the buzzy effect happens all the time or just when I'm low on something...? Anybody else feel this way after eating or otherwise ingesting liver?

Just want to add that I freeze it in ice cube trays, then add a cube or two to my morning smoothie (with berries, kefir, raw egg yolks, etc). If I keep it to about a cube per serving, I don't find I can taste it.
