What's the best back up system for EC?

I definitely want to do cloth, but other than that I'm pretty open. I want something where DS knows as soon as he's wet. Right now we use prefolds, but they're getting to be a bit small. I'd love to hear what others swear by.

What do you use?

Prefolds or Flat diapers?
Training pants or split crotch pants?

DS is 5 months old and sometimes goes almost a whole day in one diaper, other times pees 10 diapers a day. I want something where we'll both notice as soon as he's wet.

If you can let me know brand names/where you bought your products that would be really helpful, too. Thanks so much for any ideas you have!

it really depends upon the individual. you hvae to find what works for you, because what is best for me isn't what is best for you and your lifestyle.

In the pee/poop all the time newborn days, I liked flats. After things got less frequent and miss-y, I've been loving pull-on pocket trainers. Doing it again, I'd get pull-on trainers that still have side snaps.

Basically, I went for fast-drying, easy washing, and quick off and on.

I like ecapants and EC store favorite training pants. Waterproof with snap sides. Especially after DD started standing, pull-up trainers were great, because they seem almost like underwear to her. Kinda pricey, though. I also used flats inside the ec store simply covers, which can be used as pull-ups as well.

anything that can be removed easily for pottying. I love sassycloth pull up trainers and think that she would be willing to custom make whatever. www.sassycloth.com

I'm pretty much in the same place you are and I've been using these: http://www.onestepahead.com/catalog/...egoryId=117215

They are pretty much only absorbent enough for 1 or 2 pees. And they are easy to take off because they pull on like underwear.

I've also been using the Bambino Mio trainers and you know more instantaneously when baby is wet because they leak quickly.
