3rd baby and seriously considering giving cd a try

I am seriously considering giving cd a try with just like a few dozen diapers to begin with but we are very tight budget wise and would love some tips I see all these fancy diapers and covers and it makes my head spin. Can someone point me in the right direction?
I am also thinking about cloth wipes and wonder if there is a pattern to make my own I have very sensitive skin and wipes hurt it so I am thinking cloth wipes would be better.

I am no expert at all on CD, but I decided to try it this time too and did not have the money to get expensive diapers either. So it looked like prefolds and covers were the way to go for me and that's what I did. (I love them!)
I use snappies not pins.

This is what I got...http://www.babycottonbottoms.com/thirstiesduocover.htm

However, my DD is pretty big and the first size that I thought would last till 6 months are pretty small on her now.

So, I got 2 of these to see how they fit...

I love them! They have plenty of room for a prefold to fit and I think they will last a lot longer.

I have not had any leaks with Thirsties but they are really the only ones I ever tried.

Here are the prefolds I bought...

I bought the infant size and now need to move up to baby. Baby are really long for her so I'm planning on trimming them like this...

but I haven't tried it yet.

Hope this helps! I'm sure there are lots of Mamas who have way more experience than me, and it's only been 11 weeks, but I just wanted to share what has worked for me so far.

What I have used over the last 6 years and 4 children:

It is not really worth speding $30 a dipe. I love wool but that can become an addiction. ( just got off ebay now ) I shop used so I save money if you can call my 100 dollar plaus a month saving. My problem is there is always a new dipe and I wnat to try it!

Prfolds will cost less and add a couple coveres and you should be all set. Snappies are GREAT--no more pins. I will come back to this after I look over my HUGE stash to determine which I like best.
