what to do with kefir grains

Hi, I bought a spoonful of kefir grains from ebay a year or so ago, and have been making a batch about twice a week with full cream organic milk. The spoon full has grown to about a cupfull, big fat grains. Is there going to be a point where there are too many???I have asked around but no-one seems interested in taking some from me, I dont fancy getting into the idea of advertising and posting them to someone. and I hate the idea of throwing them away--seems like killing them somehow--soppy I know.

So the question is, does it matter how many grains you put into a litre of milk??

Eat them! They are so yummy. And they give extra-concentrated probiotic benefit.

When I start getting too many to make one batch of kefir i just throw a few grains a day into my morning smoothie. Very healthy! I also gave some away to a friend who had never heard of kefir and she's been making it for 6 months now, lol

Extra kefir grains

I personally don't like the texture of plain milk grains; just too chewy. So I usually put them in a blender to make smoothies or shakes. In the summer I use them in my kefir ice cream. Oh yea, converting them into water kefir grains to make kefir juice is nice too. But they only last so long in juice. Fortunately, by the time your milk grains look all yellowish and dry in juice, you should have more extra milk grains to replace them. Al

I give my extras to my dogs. They LOVE them! And they just love Kefir so if I accidentally leave my grains fermenting an extra day I treat them with some (we don't like it too sour here).
