Talk to me about your juicer

Do you have a juicer? What brand/model is it? Do you love or hate it? Does it take up a ton of counter space? Is it easy to clean?

Pulp.... DH hates it. Is there a juicer that keeps more of the pulp out than other brands?

thanks mamas!

Hi,

We have a breville juice fountain, your typical, run of the mill centrifugal juicer. I'm sure there are better ones but I can't afford 'em! I use it everyday...clean up is not too bad and though there's a little pulp if you put it through a blender after juicing you don't notice it. Some people say blending the juice kills the enzymes but I figure low enzyme juice is better than no juice! Anyway, I'm happy w/my Breville...I don't think you can beat it for the that price !

I'll post tomorrow - I ordered an Omega 8005 after hemming and hawing and saving my Christmas and birthday money and it will be here tomorrow. I knew I wanted an auger type of juicer instead of centrifugal to preserve the nutrients in the juice. I also wanted something I could use for fruits, veggies, and greens. However, there was no way I could afford a twin auger type like a Green Star, so I was shopping in the mid-price range of the single auger type. I mainly looked at the Samson and Omega brands and decided on the Omega for slightly more money but a better warranty. I used this comparison chart to help me decide:

I've been using a $50 wide mouth hamilton beach for the last couple years and have been very happy with it especially considering it was so cheap. It's a little noisy and the pulp is a little damp. I will be getting a vitamix some day and doing the paint strainer method to get rid of pulp if I feel like pulp free juice.

I've had a Champion for 5 years which produces very nice, pulp-free (IMO) juice. The pulp is always very dry and you can even make frozen banana "ice-cream" using the blank plate. It handles greens like kale well too.

It is slightly annoying to clean but I've never found a juicer that isn't

We have a breville and champion. Dp uses the champion at work, I found it to be too much work compared to the champion even though you do get better results. I am pretty happy with the breville overall, it isn't too much of a pain to clean as long as you clean it right after you use it and I don't find the 'pulp' to be too bad.

I've been perusing a raw food forum and all the hoo-ha is about the Greenstar juicers, how they are so much better than the Champion juicers--supposedly it preserves the enzymes better, has no problem w/leafy greens, and a whole lot more. I like my Champion OK, but from my amateur point of view, it only does a comparable job to the cheap, $40 centrifugal juicer I had before, not any better. When I juice leafy greens, a lot of pulp gets stick inside the chamber before I'm done and I have to take everything apart to clean it, the pulp doesn't come out nice and dry, I have to strain it w/a cheesecloth, and it's really heavy so unless you have a lot of counterspace, you'll be lugging this thing out every day.
