car seats for occasional use - 4 m/o and 2 y/o

I'm looking for car seats for occasional use for a 2.5 y/o and 4 m/o. They are usually in a RadianXT and Boulevard, both rf. I am willing to ff the 2.5 y/o (he is 33 lb). I could afford expensive car seats but would really rather not. Ideas?

How about a Cosco Scenera for the baby and a harnessed booster for the toddler?

Cosco scenera ($50) and an evenflo maestro ($80) would be my picks.

I'd third the Cosco Scenera. That's what I got for my parents to use, and also for DS's dad. It's not the most luxe car seat ever, but it's got great safety ratings, it's rear facing pretty much the whole way through, and it's really cheap.

Thanks! I will go with the Scenera for the baby and the Maestro for the toddler, unless someone knows of a cheap seat that will rf to 40 lb. I don't think it exists, though. I love this forum.

The cheapest 40lb limit seat is the MyRide, which is $127 on babycatalog right now. Or if you have an old seat or baby item, BRU is doing a trade in event where you can get 25% off a seat. They have some other coupons too on car seats, like a 20% off any one item.

I think I got my Scenera for $40. Great option for travel/occasional use.
