Can My Milk Come Back?

I have a special needs baby that can not feed directly at breast because she has a muscle issue around one side of her mouth and feeding in general makes her very tired ... I have been pumping for 3 months and after the first month, I could not keep up production so she was drinking partial BM and partial formula .... then over a 2-3 week period, my milk was seriously dwindling to like maybe 10cc per day ... the last week, I think I was just discouraged and I stopped pumping all together, but now I am regretting that - can I make my milk somehow come back and in higher quantity?

Check out the "low milk supply" sticky int he breastfeeding challenges forum. There are lots of ways to help increase supply - from herbal supplement to oatmeal to special pumping routines and medications.

What pump are you using? There is also an 'exclusive pumpers tribe' that may help you get ideas and support.

Good luck!

More expressing milk will lead to more production if you keep at it. Also you can try hops tea, oats in any form, fenugreek, blessed thistle.

Make sure you have a hospital grade pump (probably a rental). Pump frequently, get lots of rest and good nutrition, and I really like Motherlove More Milk Plus tincture. Good luck mama!
