how to transition

My dh has always preferred to sleep separate from the girls and I because he really needs his sleep. I love sleeping with my girls and wish we could all just sleep in the same room but its time for me to move back in with my dh.
My dds are a little over 2 and 41/2. They'll be sleeping in a queen bed together. I would like to put a twin next to dh and my bed so that my older dd can come in when she wakes up because she gets scared. Otherwise, I go in with her to help her back to sleep but then I'm wide awake and get can't back to sleep. And I desperately need my sleep these days.
My dh doesn't like the idea of a temporary twin in our bedroom because from what he hears it will never end.
Does anyone have any experience or suggestions to share?

We have a double bed next to our queen for when my second kiddo is old enough to co-sleep with my 5 year old. Basically, a room full of beds. There is no WAY I would be willing to schlep myself to another room every night just because of a fear that co-sleeping will never end. I do whatever it takes to get everyone as much sleep as possible in the present, and I try not to worry about any what-ifs.
