My son and his friend were changing to go swimming. They are 6 years old. Here's the conversation:

Friend: hey, why is yours so long and mine so short
son: (he says nothing)
Friend: no REALLY why is mine so short and yours so long
son: (still nothing, just a giggle)
Friend: Hey, do you know... look at them .. yours is SOOO LONG and mine is short. Why do they look like that???
Son: Well, I could tell you but you don't want to know
Friend: come on, tell me!!!
Son: when you were born yours looked like mine and your mom made the doctor cut off the long part.
Friend: HOLY COW *insert sons name*, you have said some crazy things but that one is the craziest I've ever heard.
Son: well, you asked
friend: so, you really don't know either, do you?

What a unbelievably frank and knowledgeable conversation from a six year old. Good job preparing him!

thank you. My husband is circ'd so he's always seen the "difference". He's also a vegetarian and a Bears Fan (hahaha) so he's use to having quick answers for his differences and, being different in a rural main-stream place has given him a tough skin.

education education education. Not only is he one of the only kids that knows what a hamburger is made of and where to find the chop on a pig, but he knows why circ'ing is NOT needed etc. He's a dangerous mind!

ok, one more funny my dh reminded me of. That night after the conversation my ds and dh were peeing at the same time (wierdos)... and my dh looks at my son and says "hey, why is mine so short and yours so long"...

oh the laughter that erupted from that one.

humor helps filling in the blanks of differences!

It's telling that the idea is so "out there" that a child won't believe it. Kids seem to "get" that it's wrong and are not conditioned to believe it's cleaner/healthier/prettier/whatever. Poor kid will be in for a shock when he realizes it was true.

I really love the way kids can be so honest, but not hurtful. Your guy will have no problems in the locker room. thanks, that was my smile for the day

Yeah I just hope that boy has his parents tell him before he's a teenager but I wonder how many parents actually tell their son's they are circ'ed because I have heard stories of boys not finding out until after their own research or in adulthood.

This was the case for my little brother. After we did the research and decided we were not circ'ing our son, I mentioned to my brother to make sure to research the topic if he and his wife ever have a baby boy. He was confused and actually said, "I don't even know if I am circumcised?". Of course he is, this was confirmed by my mother. I just felt very sad that he didn't have any idea what had happened and that he was actually missing a piece of his anatomy .
