Just documenting a picture. I'll take another one on Tuesday since ~10 days or so was when I first noticed positive changes last time, and Tuesday will be the 10th day. He has a similar, but slightly smaller, spot on his other cheek.

We've been dairy free for almost a month now and I am noticing changes for the better but not total improvement. My DS doesn't have any skin problems on his face, but he does have this rash of red bumps on his torso that I can't seem to change. . .lotion, oil, none, no dairy, switch detergent. Nothing has made a difference. But I still believe that cutting diary has helped him--his poos and his sleeping and fussiness. He also had some eczema behind his ears that is better although the dry skin on his legs is not better. Sigh. I think we may have to try and give up soy and/or nuts as well.

Its so frustrating and confusing! And yes, giving up dairy can be hard. I have mostly just been eating vegan since I was a vegetarian to begin with and saying vegan seems to make more sense to restaurants than dairy free. There are lots of good subs out there though, like rice milk or almond milk and rice cheese. Of course they aren't the same, but once you get used to them (and forget about the taste of dairy somewhat) its easier. Basically, it just becomes easier to cook at home. .. a lot of recipes can be altered.

*sigh* It's been almost 2 weeks now and now I think it's either not dairy, or it's not "just" dairy that's causing his eczema. It is still coming and going, and doesn't really seem to be getting any better overall. I'm going to give it one more full week though, all the way through to Saturday the 27th. Maybe that third week will be a drastic and undeniable improvement.

I hate to be a downer, but I think you've probably already seen all the changes that you're going to see. I would say there's probably still something in your diet that's bothering him. Have you taken anything else out- like soy? eggs? (Eggs are one of the #1 eczema triggers.)

I haven't taken anything else out. I think as soon as I'm done w/ this massive batch of egg salad that I made (roll eyes), I will take out eggs as well, and do both dairy-free and egg-free for 7-10 days or so to see if there's any improvement, then if there is, I can test the dairy first and then the eggs.

I just hope that, if it turns out to be eggs, they're not in "everything" like dairy is.
