How much does your 4 year old sleep?

Do they nap?
When do they go to bed and what time do they wake up?

DS has never been the greatest sleeper, but I really feel like he does not get enough sleep these days. I'm just wondering what is "normal" for this age. He'll be 4 in two months.

DD will be four in May. She hasn't napped since around 27 months. She goes to bed between 7:30 and 8 and gets up at 7. Maybe once a week she'll go to bed a half hour earlier. So I'd say she averages 11-1/2 hours a night.

DS is six -- he's always needed less sleep. He was probably at 11 hours a night at that age.

DS sleeps about 11 hours a night, no naps. Last night he was asleep by 8:30 and up a bit after 7:30 today. He is always in bed by 8. Sometimes he falls right to sleep, other times he chatters away or looks at a book or both.

My 4 yo will be 5 next month, but he sleeps about 11 hours, on average. He usually goes to sleep between 9-11 pm, and wakes up between 8-10 am.

My DD was 4 in November. She sleeps 10 hours a night. She gave up naps at 26 months. If she's got a cold she can sleep 12 to 14 hours.

DS turned 4 a couple of months ago. He doesn't normally nap, and hasn't for a long time, though he will sometimes fall asleep in late afternoon, especially if he's riding in the car. He usually sleeps 10-11 hours at night.

I have 2 four yr olds. They go to bed at 7 pm (asleep between 7:15 & 8pm) and wake between 6:30 & 7:30.

DD1- Usually 11-11.5 hrs

DD2- still naps 1-4x a week for one hour. Needs 11.5- 12.5 hours.

DD is 4-1/2. She goes to bed most nights between 8 and 8:30, although sometimes that drags a bit. She wakes up around 6 during the week, and about 7 or 7:30 on the weekends. So, what's that? 9.5 to 10 hours during the week and about 11 on weekends.

During the week, she still naps, for 1.5 to 2 hours, because she's in a preschool/daycare where all the kids still lay down. On weekends she rarely naps.

So, I guess that totals to between 11 and 12 hours a day.

Well, from what I'm seeing it would seem that he is on the low end of normal. He goes to bed around 7:30, but lately he has been waking up at 5 or 5:30. He used to wake up at 6:30 or 7. I would love for him to get back to at least 6 or 6:30! Luckily he is good at entertaining himself in his room, and will usually let the baby and I sleep, but he often wakes us up because he needs something. He has circles under his eyes and by the end of the day he is so darn, well, hard to handle. Disagreeable. Whiny. Aggressive. CRABBY.

I've asked him why he is waking up so early and his reply is consistent. "Well, I just forgot how to sleep."

My DD will turn 4 in February.

If she hasn't had a nap, she goes to bed between 7-8pm and sleeps until 6:30am-7:30am.

If she has had a nap (usually 2-4 times per week for aprox. 2 hours), then she stays up until 8:30-9pm, and still wakes at the same time.

I have to say though she is a great sleeper, unlike my DS was at that age

My dd turned 4 in December. She dropped all naps around the time she turned one.

We had her going to bed around 8:30-9:00 but she's now afraid of the dark (anything that isn't fully lit) and resists going to bed/sleep. So at the moment she's going to bed around 10-11, unless dh is not home in which case she'll pass out on the couch earlier. Either way she sleeps until 9am which is when dd2 wakes everyone up. If dd2 slept in later, I'm sure dd1 would sleep in later too (as would I!).

My DS turned 4 in September. He generally goes to be around 8, and gets up between 7-7:30. Rarely will he sleep til 8am, and past 8 only if he's sick, no matter how late he stays up at night. So approximately 11 hours or a little bit longer.

DD turned 4 a couple weeks ago. She fall asleep around 8:30-9 and gets up around 7:30-8, so 11ish hours. She naps for about 2 hours every afternoon, and is miserable when she doesn't get her nap in.

My DD is almost 4 1/2. She goes to bed by 9pm and is up at 7am. She stopped napping just before she turned 4. She has occasional naps but I wake her up after about 30 min's because if she naps longer then she won't fall asleep at night for a lonnnngggg time and then she's a wreck the next morning. It's a genuine domino effect...

My 3.5 and just turned 5 year old do not nap anymore.

They get up around 7:30am - 8am and they have to be in bed, teeth brushed, washed, jammies by 8pm. Then we nurse, read a book and I don't mind if they talk or play quietly in bed, they are usually passed out by 9:30pm.

DD will be 4 in May. She naps 2-3 hours every day. She falls asleep at night around 9:30 and wakes up around 7-7:30. So about 12 hours total. If she doesn't get her nap, which happens very rarely and only when we are travelling, she either is a monster in the evening or so loopy-tired she just gets crazy, like she's drunk or something.

Not much it seems.

My son will be four at the beginning of March. He goes to sleep between 7pm and 7:30pm and is up between 5am and 6am. He doesn't nap and goes non stop the whole time he's up.

dd just turned 4 earlier in the month. She goes to bed usually between 8-9, sleeps til 7-8. Also, she takes a two hour nap daily. So 12-14hrs on average? She can also be up way later in the night or skip her nap and still have the same wake/sleep pattern, though her attitude definitely shows lol./

Try a later bedtime? Our DS goes to be around 9pm sometimes 9:30 and wakes up at 6:30 during the week and 7:30/8 on the weekends. He also takes a 2 hour nap at preschool and maybe an hour nap on the weekends. Is he getting plenty of exercise? That's also important as well. I think at this age they are still to get 10 hours TOTAL sleep and that includes nap(s).

DD turns 4 this week, we just cut out her daily nap last week. Right now she naps during the week as needed, about 3 times (about 2 hours) and she sleeps about 11 hours at night.
