ohhhh I miss those napping days

My son won't be 4 until June, but he sleeps from 7:30 or 8 until 7ish in the morning. So about 11 hours at night. He sometimes takes naps, but not regularly and not more than 2 hours when he does take one.

DS turned 4 in October. he sleeps 10-11 hours each night. He has not napped since about 18 months.

My DD will be 4 in July. She hasn't napped since around 18 months either. If she naps then she can't go to sleep at night, and she acts crazy. It's horrible.

She goes to bed between 7:30 and 8:30 most nights--we aim for right about 8. Regardless of what time she goes to bed she still wakes up early. Any time between 6:30 and 8:30, usually right about 7:30.

The past few days she's been getting up at 5:30 or 6, which is too early for me! It doesn't bother her though, she is just asking to go to bed by 7 or 7:30.

does he hate sleeping? does he hate bed time? is his bedtime fixed? or do you have a half hour leeway?

dd hates sleeping. she is low normal. but i watch her. sometimes i catch her yawning and acting sleepy. if i miss that chance and not put her to bed, she will get second wind and stay up.

Nap? - Ha! lol

Only in the car, if we are going somewhere very far...but even then, that is rare. Especially if he is listening to a book on CD! lol

He goes to bed when we go to bed - so anytime between 10 and 11pm. He then sleeps about 10-12 hours.

nap at 1:30ish-3

My 4yo sleeps about 10 hours a night, hasn't napped since 2. I think he'd sleep less if it were up to him, he's done fine on 7-8 hours of sleep on occasion. He falls asleep out of boredom after his big brother falls asleep.

I can't remember when our 4 yo. stopped napping, but it's been a while since that happened.
He goes to bed at 7 pm., is out by 7.15-30 pm. and gets up 6.30-7 am. So, 11/11.5 hours.

dd2 is 4 and quit napping at about 2.5 years old. she sleeps 11-12 hours a night though and has always been a great night sleeper. she's usually asleep by 8 and up around 7:30 or soon after. she actually loves her sleepy time.. try to get her up earlier and all you hear from the blankets is, "5 more minutes mommy" hmm...wonder where she heard that before?

Hmm, I think the naps flew out the window around 20 months, but I pushed it until about 2.5, maybe.

She goes to bed between 8 and 9 and is up between 7 and 8. Some days she seems tired, but I think it has more to do with how much or little she eats, and her sleep quality. She still wakes often. The nights she doesn't wake up at all, I can see a difference. But I can't even get a nap out of her in the van unless it's like 5 pm

My son will be 4 in May. He falls asleep between about 8:15 and 9p, and wakes up at 7:30 on weekdays.

Some days he naturally wakes up a little earlier, some days he wakes up just before I wake him up, and some days he really doesn't want to get up at 7:30. On weekends he usually sleeps until closer to 8. So I think he's getting slightly less sleep than he needs.

He gave up naps around 2.5, and even now will only fall asleep before "bedtime" if it's pretty late, getting dark, and we've gone for a long drive.

Apparently our children are twins born 8 months apart in different families!

Although my guy finally started sleeping through most nights around 2.5, but he still wakes up in the middle of the night unless I'm sleeping next to him. If he's in his own bed or if my husband is the one next to him he sits bolt upright, calls "mommy?" throws his lovey over my husband and then dives over to get between us.

This is my DD exactly.

with homeschooling we are lazy about our bedtimes. Everyone here likes to be up later and it works so I don't mess with it. Both my kids are in bed by 10:30 and DS gets up anywhere between 8 and 9, and DD between 9 and 10. They both stopped napping around 2-2.5, and DD will maybe once in a great while take a short nap in the car or on the couch. If I go to her room after hearing her in the mroning before she calls me she'll say "mommy, i need to sleep still, go downstairs till I call you" . DS would be up till 1am every day if it was ok with me.

I would love for him to get back to at least 6 or 6:30! Luckily he is good at entertaining himself in his room, and will usually let the baby and I sleep, but he often wakes us up because he needs something. He has circles under his eyes and by the end of the day he is so darn, well, hard to handle. Disagreeable. Whiny. Aggressive. CRABBY.

I've asked him why he is waking up so early and his reply is consistent. "Well, I just forgot how to sleep."
My 4.5 goes to bed between 7-7:30PM and gets up between 6-6:30AM. Sometimes he'll start getting up around 5:30AM, when that happens I start putting him to bed earlier (6:45/7PM) and after a couple of days he goes back to sleeping in later. Weird but it works.

This is my 4yo DD. She also began waking up earlier than usual (usually sleeps around 11.5 hours), though not that early!. She also has circles under her eyes, which makes me nervous. She has been having on and off minor colds/coughs and at my baby's dr. appt. a couple of weeks ago, I had her checked out, too, and she said her nasal passages were very inflamed. So either allergies or persistent colds. Her dentist also says he thinks she is mouth-breathing at night, so we're keeping an eye on it. She is sick now with something (fever and ear ache plus coughing/congestion/sneezing), so I'm hoping it will all clear up soon and she'll get back to better sleep.

She's also very low in Vitamin D, so we're supplementing 2000IU daily, and 4000IU the past couple of days. And she probably hasn't been getting nearly enough exercise or fresh air, given the constant frigid temps and her lazy mama

Good luck!
