What to do with extra pump?

My Purely Yours that I have had for three years and used the heck out of (EP for my two year old for a year and EP for first 9 weeks for DD) is about to bite the dust. DD is nine months old and nurses like a champ and I am almost never away from her so I couldn't imagine spending a lot of money on a new pump for so few times that it would be used yet I just don't do good with the cheaper pumps. (I have a Harmony and Isis and they just don't do good for me any more... they were great at the beginning but for some reason when I stopped pumping full time and went to full time nursing, I got to where I just couldn't get anything out with them...)

A very good friend of mine offered me her "gently used" Pump in Style. Gently as in, one time at work for three months. She offered to have it all cleaned out and buy new tubing, flanges, all that stuff. I said sure. Her words were "I'll send you the pump and the extras". I assumed that meant extra parts, bottles, membranes, ect. No, what she meant was extra pumps. She mailed me FOUR Pump in Styles! She had one for work, one for her car, one for home and one for just in case!!

Seriously, who has that kind of money to buy FOUR rather expensive pumps "just in case" lol!!!!

My question is, what in the world should I do with the extras?? Do people even buy/use used pumps? I can't even imagine throwing something so expensive away... any suggestions?

I'd sell them or give them to other mamas who could make use of them.

Probably, I'd try to find people who needed them and couldn't afford them comfortably.

I'd like to do that! I wasn't sure if many people would use a used pump... where would a good place to look for someone who needed one but couldn't afford a new one??? lol.

Call your local WIC office, ours is located in the county public health dept. bldg, I bet they can help or call the lactation office at your local hospital. Maybe just get the word out around town (work, church, grocery store) and someone may pop up!

Maybe contact a La Leche League leader and see if they can help you find homes for the pumps.
