Which gardening tool should I get?

Hi all!

My family moved to a new house last August and are starting to prepare for a garden this year! We have had raised bed gardens in the past, but since we have so much room, will probably just dig in the earth and not do raised beds here. I have $50 in amazon cards and am wanting to buy a nice garden tool.
I am debating on a digging fork and spade. We do have a couple of spades but they are old and not good quality. We will be able to borrow a tiller from in-laws t get the ground tilled.

Any suggestions??

Thanks!
Michelle

Gardening tools are very, very personal, but if I was buying tools, I would get a deep spade like this:

http://www.amazon.com/Fiskars-9654-T...5030372&sr=1-8

And cultivator/hoe/loop hoe of some kind:

http://www.amazon.com/Cultivator-and...030602&sr=1-41

I have a garden fork and never, ever use it.

I have a good shovel that I use a lot. Just a standard shovel from the hardware store.

And really good gloves. Get 2 pairs since that get lost/used constantly.

And a pair of loppers and/or pruners. Felcos are terrific, but very $$$.

And have fun!

My most used tools are a good garden spade, a garden fork, and my Felco pruner. I couldn't really do without any of them, so it would be hard to choose just one. I don't till, so the garden fork is essential for me, but maybe since you'll be tilling you wouldn't be as likely to use it.
