Cheese from Costco

Thread Starter
I saw several people mention in a Costco thread that they get their cheese from there. We recently got a membership and I've never looked at their cheese selection.

For those who have researched the different brands, which ones are good? Anything I should be looking for in particular?

Kerrygold is one to look for (the Dubliner is my favorite ). I don't actually have a Costco membership and I get mine at TJs, but my SIL mentioned she gets it at costco for a good price.

Tillamook (not raw, or grass-fed but a "compromise cheese" and quite affordable).
kerrygold
our costco has several local cheeses (laurel chanel's, pt reyes blue cheese, and more).

I bought Kerrygold Dubliner recently cause I read about it on here. It's VERY good! Wow! Even my preschooler who normally does not like cheese gobbled it down! Kind of like a cross between a good quality parmesan and aged cheddar, dense with a slightly sweet aftertaste. I want more!

I don't know if it'd grass-fed but they have unpasteurized emmental and gruyere which I have bought a few times. They also have great prices on parmesan. We don't have a membership anymore, but I miss the cheese selection. I've worked in a cheese shop, and we paid almost costco prices for a lot of our stock, which is why it is so expensive at the smaller places.

We LOVE the kerrygold dubliner cheese... it really rounds out some meals for me, love it with fruit and a salad.

I will have to check out their Parmesan!

I don't think Tillamook is grass fed. I'll see if I can find info and link here.

I look at the ingredients on the cheeses to see if it's raw cheese or not at Costco. I got at least three varieties and there were one or two more than what I bought.

ETA: from the Tillamook website:

Cow rations would consist of forages and grains that are balanced by a nutritionist so as to provide a complete ration that meets requirements for health, as well as milk production. The forage portion of the ration would vary somewhat between dairies but would include grass, alfalfa, and probably some corn silage. The grain portion would be a mixture of different grains, including corn and barley. They would also be given a vitamin/mineral supplement with their ration.

I'm in Portland, very near Tillamook country and at least some of the cows are grassfed. I've seen it with my own eyes. It's a farmer-owner coop so different farms do different things. You can definitely smell not all are grass fed in parts of the county.
