help! substitute for dry sherry

I just made a huge pot of black bean soup for a family with a new baby. Forgot that the recipe calls for 3 tbsp of dry sherry and have none on hand. I do have red wine, white wine, and rice vinegar. Would the red wine work? Thanks! Supposed to drop it off in the morning, so no time to get to store

Sherry has such a distinct flavor it is normally hard to sub, however since it is black bean soup, red wine vinegar - or just red wine if that is all you have - would be fine My bbs recipe uses a little red wine vinegar at the end so I know it goes well!

Thanks! Too bad my new BBS recipe is more like a recipe for refried black beans! When all was said and done, I pretty much had 12 cups of black bean dip on my hands. Sheesh! My friend is getting a quiche and we are playing burrito factory today

: Oh well, quiche is great too!

Black bean burritos are awesome. The beans should freeze well for you if you have too much (12c sounds like a lot!).
