"Hood" Piercings - Page 2

I've strongly considered it too but I am such a gigantic . I got my tongue pierced this past summer and had HUGE drama with it healing. It took forever for me to even be able to eat anything other than applesauce or popsicles. So I am really leery of getting anything else pierced now.

I have a vertical hood piercing. I got it 5 years ago and I LOVE it! It healed very, very quickly. The initial piercing hurt a bit but only as the needle went through and then it was over. The area was sensitive for awhile but eventually your body gets used to it. If you like the sensitivity, keep changing ball sizes on the barbell, (if you have a vertical).

Anyway, it's a fun piercing, easy to heal and easy to clean. Just make sure you go to a reputable shop with piercers you trust

i had three.. (two horizontal and one vertical- it looked really cool!!)

the only reason I took them out is that i was working at a school w/ metal detectors, and I decided it just wasn't worth being questioned in front of my students...

Does anyone know if being sensitive to get UTI's would be affected with a hood piercing? Would it cause more frequent UTI's I mean? I guess I don't see why it would but I am just curious. I am a chronic UTI sufferer and wouldn't want anything that would make it worse.

Am I ever happy to find this thread! I'm thinking of getting one too.

I have the same question as Beautiful~Life and a question about sensitivity, but I dont think it would work in this thread. If you have one of these piercings, would you mind pm'ing me so I can ask you somewhat personal questions?

I'm confused. I have my fair share of piercings and I have yet to have a metal detector go off because of the jewelry (which is good jewelry, not cheap stuff!).

it depends. i go through a metal detector on a regular basis and have to take my jewlery off. Often my bra will set it off. then they have to get the wand and pat me down. for whatever reasons for a while my legs were setting it off for reasons I am unsure of.... I wear a very small cross and occaisionally timy stud ear rings and an underwire bra. granted it is a really really sensative machine.

I am officially old. I had to Google hood piercings to find out what y'all were talking about.

I also learned that Wikipedia posts pictures.

All in all, a very informative thread!

Wow, that must be an INCREDIBLY sensitive machine. My underwire in my bra has never set one off, and I've worn underwire bras since I was 12 or so.
