Diabetes and a whole foods diet

My daughter has been diagnosed with diabetes this weekend and aside from the obvious general worries over her health, my main concern now is finding things she can eat that don't involve artificial ingredients. Does anyone have any resources/book suggestions for this? I would aslo appreciate some book suggestions (and general suggestions) for helping her become accustomed to having injections and having to eat when her schedule allows.

My dh was diagnosed with type one diabetes and since we moved to a paleo/primal diet (check out http://www.marksdailyapple.com/primal-blueprint-101/) his need for insulin has decreased tremendously (almost to nothing) and his bsl stays much steadier. His health overall has improved as well.
