Don't want to vac myself to become an RN in MI...any info?

Hi ya'll!
I'm starting school this fall in MI to become an RN then moving on up the chain of command so to speak to become a CNM and reading over some of the other threads on here got me thinking...

Does anyone know what the law states in MI in regards to me choosing to not get any vac's for myself? My parents did have me vac'd as a child, but the last shot I rec'd as a child was when I was about 10, then I was given the rubella booster after I had my first DD (without telling me anything about it, just "here's a shot you need to get" and in my ignorance I let them do it at the time)

So, anyone know of any info? or what I can expect?

TIA!

Well, the "good" news is that it is unlikely you receive only rubella (it is more expensive and usually special ordered due to demand); it is much more likely that you received the MMR because your titers for rubella were low.

Other than the MMR, Hep B seems to be the other vaccine nursing schools require; so I would take your childhood record and your OB record with the vaccines recorded when you need to submit them.

You may be able to get an exemption for school, but it is harder to avoid it for clinicals.

i'm working through this right now too. I can get an exemption for Hep B, Tetanus and Diptheria but the others i either need a titer test or the vaccines...My chiro told me that he dind't think a college could overrule the state law that says there are exemptions but they said they would throw me out of the program if I didn't get them. Well, I've heard that many times from the elementary schools but it's not true. But, do I want to make alot of waves? Hmm...
